First and foremost, quit the hype and share the facts. The Zer01 service doesn’t utilize traditional circuit-switched voice calling. Instead, it routes calls through proprietary VoIP technology. In the same way that Verizon and Sprint borrow each other’s networks in roaming agreements, Zer01 has made an agreement with GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile that tunnel them into Zer01′s own existing network backbone.
And, the service is not 5G. By using interconnect agreements, Zer01 can get around carriers’ monthly 5GB data caps and offer truly unlimited data. Getting around the 5GB data cap and being a 5G service are not the same thing.
For now, the VoIP application that powers Zer01 will be available for Windows Mobile 6 only.
The worst point at this time is that they missed their July 1st launch date. Just remember who this company is taking on.
Sounds like a good service if it works well. However, in my 25 years of telecommunications and internet industry experience, they’ll have a lot to prove to survive and wouldn’t be the first to fail.
Anyone looking at this product should do their homework and get all the facts – don’t buy the hype.
One additional note that you need to make sure people understand. Your post says “Unlimited Internet – 3 Gig Broadband.” This is what your own Buzzirk Mobile website says: “High Speed Internet Access – Service is on a GSM Network. Service will roam on the best available GSM network available. Internet speeds will range across GPRS, EGPRS, EDGE, and even 3G when available.”
So, it could be on 3G when available, but it is NOT a true 3 GIG broadband service.
Hey, that’s a great list of tips. Picked up a tip or two from it…thanx.
